Do You Know Working Principle Of Domestic Refrigerator.

Domestic Refrigerator:-

*  Vapour compression refrigeration system is employed in the domestic refrigerators. In this refrigerator natural air cooling is done by providing metallic fins with the condenser coil. The block diagram of refrigerator is shown in fig, . In domestic refrigerators, instead of expansion valve a caplillary tube about 40 cm in length and 0.75 mm to 1.0 mm in diameter is used. The resistance offered by the tubing results in pressure drop. Refrigerant after capillary expands and extrats its heat from the evaporator coils wound round the freeze compartment. Capillary tubing is more reliable than expansion valve because in this there is absence of moving parts and that is the advantage.
Due to its limited voltage capillary tubing is used in small size domestic refrigerators, air conditioners and water coolers. Capillary tubing and condenser are both situated outside at the back of refrigerators. Natural cooling is provided to domestic refrigerators. In order to provide sufficient ventilation to the condenser coils and sealed unit, refrigerator must be placed at least 25 cm to 30 cm away from the wall. In domestic refrigerator compressor and motor are assembled in a single unit and is called ”hermeetically sealed unit". The unit is installed at the bottom of the refrigerator and advantage is that the dilema of gas leakage is minimised as there is no extension of moving parts through the sealed housing. ‘
Electric circuit of a refrigerator is shown in Fig., and electrical working can be well understood from the diagram. Temperature inside the refrigerator is to be -«VlI

Vapour compression refrigeration system is employed in the domestic refrigerators. In this refrigerator natural air cooling is done by providing metallic fins with the condenser coil. The block diagram of refrigerator is shown in Fig.[IV]:2.16. In domestic refrigerators, instead of expansion valve a caplillary tube about 40 cm in length and 0.75 mm to 1.0 mm in diameter is used. The unit is installed at the bottom of the refrigerator and advantage is that the dilema of gas leakage is minimised as there is no extension of moving parts through the sealed housing. ‘
Electric circuit of a refrigerator is shown in Fig.[IV]:2.16 and electrical working can be well understood from the diagram. Temperature inside the refrigerator is to be
maintained between 5°C to 10°C and inside the freezer between 7°C to 15°C. This is made possible by the use of thermostat switch. To prevent the refrigerator motor from
burning the supply must be given through an automatic voltage regulator.
