M.A.T type H. P. M. V lamp :-

This type of lamp is almost similar to that of M.A. type, but the outer type instead of being empty consists of a tungusten filament simil3to that of an ordain lamp in series with the discharge tube, so that is acts as a ballast. Since the lamp dose not require any ballast or choke, it can be used for A.C. as well as D.C. mains, when the lamp is switched on it works as a filament lamp and its full output is given by the outer tubr, at tge same time the discharge tube starts warming up and when a particular temperature.is attained a thermal switch operation, and a part of the filament is cut off so that the voltage across the discharge tube increases.
